Councilmember Max Anderson

“This kind of outcome reflects a commitment on the part of this developer whose entrepreneurial agility resulted in changes that others might have resisted.”

–Councilmember Max Anderson, City Council meeting July 23, 2009, speaking about the Council’s unanimous approval of Ashby Arts.

State Senator Loni Hancock

It has been my pleasure to have known and worked with Mr. Kashani since the late 1980’s when I was the Mayor of the City of Berkeley and he worked as a project manager for a local nonprofit organization and built the first shelter for homeless women and children.

During his tenure in the nonprofit sector, Mr. Kashani provided an invaluable service to our community by founding Affordable Housing Associates (AHA) in 1993 and creating a significant number of homes for low and very-low income families throughout the Bay Area. By the time he departed from AHA in 2004, he left a thriving, financially sound organization behind.

I have always found that, with a strong education in Civil Engineering and Management from reputable local universities, Mr. Kashani is a capable and knowledgeable professional in real estate development. Often, in my years as an elected official, I have relied on his expertise.

His family is also very important to him. As a devoted father four wonderful children, he is committed to ensuring that they will each be contributing members of our community.
